This was by far, hardest prompt yet [for me] , issued by San Diego Momma. It took me the better part of the day because, let's be honest folks, I SUCK when it comes to trying to articulate my thoughts on paper (or screen as it were), and easily make you "see" what I'm telling you. I stumble often, and it's never pretty, when it comes to descriptive writing, especially stuff I have to think about.
I enjoy her prompts because it really stretches me and illustrates the places I need work.
So, without further ado, here is my contribution:

I sit, staring at the blank white canvas of a Word document. The heated glare of my desk lamp shining off to the side warms the air slightly. My fingers pass over the gray keys of the keyboard…the letters well worn off after millions of finger taps against them. I am unable to make the thoughts tumbling around in my head, like so much wet laundry in the dryer, coalesce.
I stare off to the side, where a window reflects my image and I wonder silently to
myself if the rain will ever stop? The window boasts smudged finger
prints from the bright-eyed toddler who stood there earlier in the day, her
little pink nose pressed against the glass, her fingers trailing the raindrops
as they slid down the glass pane. She silently willed away the huge silvery droplets
of water that plummeted from the sky,
My gaze switches to the humongous off white poodle/golden retriever mix, adorably called a Goldendoodle, who sits patiently at my side with his curly hair, beige ears and big goofy puppy smile, and waits for me to shower him with pats and belly rubs. His breath is warm against my calves and is strangely comforting. The dog rests his large shaggy head against the green carpet, sighs and then goes to sleep as my fingers glide across the naked keys of my keyboard.
