Don't get me wrong, I love my friends and family. They're awesome people. Nice, caring, friendly folks, the lot of them. Oh, and we can't forget thoughtful. Very thoughtful.
So thoughtful in fact that they only wanted to get me the very best for this past milestone of mine. I'm speechless when I think about the time and effort they put into picking out gifts with me in mind...paying attention to every possible little detail. They knew that I had conflicting thoughts about turning 40 and they wanted me to make sure I knew how much they cared about my feelings on the subject. Brings a tear to the eye...really.
Take my Dad and little Brother for example. Only two men could put together a gift package like this; taking into account my age and my hatred of the dog's nasty flatulence habit. Such sweet souls are my Dad and little Brother...
I think this is self-explanatory
A pair of Racing Grannies. How...quaint.
Then we come to my very own Mommily and little Sister Moosey. Oh boy they spared no expense when it came to this birthday. None at all...
There is actually a story behind this one, having once upon a time forgetting where I parked the car, BUT, it's not as simple as that, nor did it have anything to do with my advancing age!
Like Altoids, for the aged.
Megawatt, not one to be outdone, created a special basket for me with the following in it:
She swears that I don't hear half of what she says!
Last but certainly not least, my dear bloggy friends, Bejewell from The Bean and Mrs. Waltz, from Waltz in Exile -- both of whom know I love to read, made sure I had some suitable material.
Victoria's Rejects Catalog -- for the discerning older woman who cares about her looks!
This is on my list of things to order right away! I can't wait to transform all that dangly hanging down skin around my neck (otherwise known as my turkey gobbler!) into a fashion statement with these skin clips!
The other book in this lovely little care package from those two included Mother Goose Tells the Truth About Middle Age...
It includes gems like:
and...
I'm moved beyond words. Truly. And I am really feelin' the love. Somehow the words THANK YOU don't seem adequate enough. But alas, as I am getting up there in years, I'm having trouble recalling just what words I'd like to use to convey my deep personal feelings about all these very special gifts.
