We Interrupt This Normally Scheduled Blog Post to Bring You the Following...
At this point in time, even this, actually hitting the blog, is doubtful. If it does, you can thank a nice 2007 Chardonnay and a couple of Xanax.
True story...yesterday I was trying to download a copy of the Health Care Reform (HR 3200) bill that is currently being battled around in the House and Senate. First it killed my browser...
I tried it two more times and the above error kept popping up after it closed all my open browser windows as well as Word. Crashing Word is important. Just keep that in mind.
Another attempt netted me the total inability to open my browser at all and I received this polite little gem from Mozilla...

So I gave up. I figured that maybe it was the fact that the Goddamned bill was 1000+ pages and my computer choked on it. Even performing the Heimlich maneuver didn't work. I finally got the lovely Fatal Blue Screen o'Death. Crash, reboot, crash again and another reboot.
This will teach me to not keep my brand new quad drive machine in the box for three months. Instead of BBQ'ing this weekend I'm taking the new computer out of the box and letting Gareth have his laptop back. Hopefully whatever HR 3200 did to it, will have been cleaned out by then. Sorry honey. I was just trying to educate myself.
The other side-effect of my ill-fated expedition to download and try and digest the Health Care Reform monster was that it somehow screwed up Word. Remember how I said this was important? All of my upcoming posts are composed in Word and then I paste over to TypePad. I've been working on the series about how Gareth and I met for a while now...ALL IN WORD.
There has literally been much wailing, gnashing of teeth and many tears dropped in the last 24 hours. I can't even open up any of the Word docs I had saved to CD. Not on this machine anyhow.
Thanks Congress. Thanks a whole hell of a lot.
So, once I get the new computer set up and can hopefully recall how the hell to set up the wireless router (any geniuses out there wanna call me and help me out with this?), I can not only post the first in what I hope is an interesting and engaging series, but post some of the other stuff I've been storing up. Thankfully it's all been backed up to CD. I just need a computer with a version of Word that hasn't been chewed up and spit back out by the MONSTER HEALTH CARE REFORM BILL!
In the interim, please accept this video as an olive branch of sorts. I know a lot of you were looking forward to the start of this series and I'm sorry it hasn't hit the blog yet.
I totally stole this from a friend's Facebook page (Hi Scott!), and have been watching it all day. It never ever fails to make me smile. The kids are beautiful, the music is fun and the dancing is addictive. Try to watch this and not smile. Come on, I dare ya!
Maybe it's a good thing I wasn't able to post Chapter 1 today. I have been unable to think of a title. At all. What I came up with was "The Brit and His Twit - How a Green-Eyed Yankee Landed Her Blue-Eyed Brit." Yeah, it was kind of a joke, but at this point, it's all I got!
