I was going to title this one, "Weight and See - Politics is Going to be the Death of Me", but because I'm still blogging from a device roughly the same size as a deck of cards, I went with the iPod title.
Just the same, I've recently discovered that I have to step back from watching/reading/debating all things political because of what it does to my blood pressure. I stopped in to my doctor's office to weigh myself (I still don't trust our new scale!) and somehow managed to get into a heated discussion with a MAN in the waiting room about Rick Santorum. This MAN felt that MEN in positions like Santorum have every right to speak to women's health issues.
To make a long story short, I'm pretty sure that right before my head spun around and then popped off my body completely, I punched the MAN in the mouth. Although I can't be sure about that because my blood pressure went in the same direction as my head... Sky high and then things got kinda fuzzy!
I asked the nurse to take my blood pressure after she weighed me because I could hear my heart race and I felt like my head was pounding with each pump of my heart. I was absolutely fuming when I walked back into the nurses area, but I've never had a noticeable reaction in my blood pressure like I had today.
138/98 was the reading.
Scary. Very scary.
I did explain to the nurse what happened to infuriate me, and she said that my doctor would probably want to keep an even closer eye on my blood pressure than he already was.
However, I've also lost TWO POUNDS!
In the meantime, I'm completely cutting salt AND politics out of my life.
Or asking for blood pressure medication, because I don't see myself being able to keep my mouth shut for very long!

So I went ahead and edited the title. I couldn't help myself.
