This is going to be yet another post which pretty much screams, "How NOT To Be a Professional Blogger!" Why? Because I'm going to photo-bomb you with pictures from our recent trip back to Maine, with one glaring exception. We went back to mostly work on the garage and get stuff cleaned out. If I posted any photos of the garage itself and it's contents, you would all submit me for an episode of Hoarders! So, if you were expecting witty content, heavy emotional inward glimpses into my soul, social commentary on the life of the obese...well, sorry. All I've got for you today is pictures!
After several loads to Goodwill (I'm pretty sure the entire staff there knows us by name and is probably wondering if we're getting rid of every earthly possession to go and live a spartan life in a hut somewhere! And it never ever ceases to amaze me, how much stuff we have accumulated in such a short time!), and several more to the dump, we took off to the beach for some R&R bright and early the next morning. When I say bright and early, I mean bright and early! Gaby was running through the surf before the clock even struck 9AM. It wasn't even 60F outside but she didn't care. To say that she was in her element would be an understatement of epic proportions. Being born in Maine, this kid is a Maine-ah through and through!
A wave finally got the best of her. I really wish I could have captured the expression on her face when she got a mouthful of saltwater!
Eventually she decided to take a break from body-surfing and came ashore to work on her sandcastle-building skills...
That lasted about 10 minutes. Then she decided to do what most little kids in Maine do during the summer, on the beach...make sand angels!
She is every bit as talented at making sand angels as she is snow angels in the winter time. There's only one unfortunate draw back to creating sand angels in a bikini...one gets sand in places that sand really shouldn't be!
I finally talked her into letting me take some shots of her. It's ironic, when I think about it now - when I first bought a professional-grade DSLR back in 2006 I stated quite emphatically that I did not like taking pictures of children, or humans in general, or really anything that moved because there were too many variables. I claimed that I was in love with taking pictures of land and seascapes. They didn't move. Well it appears that my camera loves this little girl! I still prefer taking pictures of things where I don't have to say, "Can you show me your pretty teeth?" "Please get your fingers out of your ears!" "Sit still!" "Stop making that face!" However I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy trying to capture the essence of this child of mine.
What do you think? Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition Cover Girl...2022?
She can be a real ham too! Despite her totally goofiness, I love this photo! I love her hair blowing in the wind...
For a change of scenery, I took a picture of my better half!
Gaby decided it was back into the water, so away she and her daddy went! I LOVE this picture!
Once they were well and truly out of camera range I took aim at the things around me, for instance, some driftwood that I thought framed the little beach we were near, nicely...
And finally, because I thought this was one of the coolest things I had ever seen, a "Beach-Friendly Wheelchair." You can rent these at the entrance to Popham Beach. I have seen them before on the numerous occasions I've been to Popham, but never up close.
There ya go! Now you can say you've been photo-bombed by Barking Mad!

I wanted to say "Hello!" and "Welcome to the asylum" to my new readers who have either found me via the article in the October 2010 issue of Woman's Day magazine, or through your various travels through the interwebs. I am glad you found your way here and hope you'll pipe up and say hi in the comments section (I really try hard to respond to each comment via the reply feature within the comments!), and that I hope you'll come back and visit.
