Weight and See - Progress to Date 2-22-12

 

Oh boy.

 

I was vain enough to think that any steps backward I took would not be huge steps.   Ha!

This was not a post I wanted to write, rather, a post I needed to write.  Just the same, I don't want to.   It's been more than a month since I last checked in (that stops tonight!), and I'm feeling rather sheepish about that. 

So why don't we just get to the nitty gritty and get on with it already?

Previous weight on 1/17/12:  334lbs

Current weight on 2/22/12:  340.5lbs

6 1/2 pounds gained.

I've GAINED SIX AND A HALF POUNDS in just a wee bit over a month.

We take a break from normal programming so I can beat myself with my brand new scale. 

A brand new scale, I might add, that originally said I'd lost 30lbs, Gareth had lost 8lbs, Gaby had lost 10lbs and Geronimo had lost 3lbs.   Then, I weighed myself again, knowing there was no way in hell I'd lost 30lbs, it then said I'd gained 100lbs!    After changing the batteries it said I'd gained 8lbs, but Gareth's weight looked realistic (I can't recall how many pounds he actually lost), Gaby had actually only lost 6lbs (but for her long tall frame, that's not exactly great!) and Geronimo lost two pounds.   His weight loss was probably due to the fact that we finally found the FURminator and I spent about an hour brushing out his coat.  

Fur beasts aside, after checking in at my doctor's office, according to his scale, I've gained 6 1/2lbs.    Thankfully my doctor was out of the office and I ran out the back door as quickly as I could, in order to avoid the grimace of the nurse making a note of my current weight in my chart.

This past month portion control didn't so much go out the window as the fact that lot of fast food and dining out, came in the window, and cooking homemade goodies for Meg while she was home.  Some of those goodies - including spaghetti with cheesy garlic bread, made it into my mouth.  As did more than a few trips to McDonald's, Wendy's, and Toxic Hell Taco Bell.   There were also trips to Cheesecake Factory (hey, I don't even like cheesecake! But I do love their peach Bellinis!), Longhorn Steakhouse, and then a Valentine's Day dinner at Buca de Beppo that was overkill on  a monumental scale!   I've gone for convenience rather than quality.  Easy rather than whole.  In a nutshell, I regressed back into what was simple, quick, and processed. 

But hey, I still have not had a drop of Coca Cola.   Diet Coke?  Yes.  The fully leaded, fully sugared stuff?  No way.  I gag just thinking about it.

Combined with poor food choices, I've made it to the Y only once and that was to swim.  No wait, I take that back.  I've gone twice.  I did one mile on the track and then the most recent time I went, I swam.

Tomorrow Gaby and I will be at the Y for as long as I can keep her occupied (she's off school this entire week) and then we're hitting the grocery store in order to replenish our produce drawers in the fridge, gather organic produce were we can find deals, and get our lives back on the right track.  Not the fast track (Oh boy oh boy am I going to go off on "the fast track", in tomorrow's post! I'm super pissed off by some things I've been reading when it comes to speedy weight loss, lately, and it's being posted by an influential blogger no less!), but the right track. 

 

 

 

Weight and See - Progress to Date 1-17-12

 

I only weighed myself once during the month of December and it was near the later part of the month when a close friendship fell apart and I was creating every excuse known to man to NOT go to the Y.   Funny that, I'm still using some of those excuses today!   Well, OK it's not funny. 

 

Back on December 22nd I weighed exactly what I did on November 29, 2011 - 346lbs.  I wasn't pleased yet not shocked either.   I wasn't living and eating deliberately.  I'd sort of let things go.  Now, I wasn't sitting around and eating Twinkies and Big Macs, but my love affair with Coca Cola was hot and heavy again, and mashed potatoes were making regular appearances around here.

Then at the start of this month I got sick.  Heinously ill.    I ended up going back to see my doctor on Friday the 13th because I still wasn't feeling well and was having trouble staying hydrated because every single thing I was eating - or trying to eat, was shooting out of me pretty rapidly. 

First things first, I was weighed.   I was a bit shocked when I saw the scale...

Previous weight on 12/22/11:  346lbs

Current weight on 1/13/12:  334lbs

Twelve whole pounds.   In just under a month.   In an ideal world, I'd prefer that number be double what it is, but I'm still proud to see it in the negatives and not a plus, or the same.   I'm certain that being ill contributed, but once the holidays were over, I stopped snacking. Plus, Coca Cola (and the nearly extra 600+ calories a day I was consuming by having 1-3 per day!) is completely out of my diet.   I have since had one soda just to see what I thought.  It was a Barq's Root Beer and it was so sweet that it immediately came back up.  I only had about an ounce but that was all it took.   Considering how sick the mere thought of a regular soda pop makes me, I'm pretty surprised that I've grown so fond of Gatorade.  At times though, it's been the only thing I have been able to keep down.    It's still 130 calories per bottle and I need to cut it off...and soon!    Those 12lbs could maybe have been 14lbs if I weren't drinking 1-2 Gatorades a day.  Hmmm, perhaps someone has a bit of a sugar addiction? 

 

Weight and See - Progress to Date 11-29-11

I'm gobsmacked that we are at the very tail end of November . . . already! 

This past week has been a whirlwind.  The kind of whirlwind where I gave up trying to sort out problems with the blog (I'm sorry if you tried to load it and had problems.   I'm trying to get everything squared away so I can move to WordPress and I inadvertently took everything off line for about 36 hours, and then I fiddled with the code and almost destroyed the entire thing! Bad Bad Audrey! ), feeling overwhelmed by how thin and I was spreading myself, feeling a little deflated about my weight and how hard working out seems to be, and generally feeling a little scattered. 

Anyhow, here are my current stats along with up-to-date measurements!

Previous weight on 11/8/11 - 346.0lbs

Current weight - 341.lbs

While I didn't see (but then I haven't pushed myself very hard lately) the weight drop like I wanted, I was really surprised to see the loss of literal inches off of my weight and chest!    I wasn't sure if my bras were just really getting worn out or if the girls were shrinking.   The girls are indeed shrinking because I almost fit into an older bra that I haven't worn since before Gaby was born!  This is pretty exciting to me because I'm not fond of - well, I'll just say it . . . big boobs!  Believe me, if I can afford it once I'm at a healthy weight, I'm going in for an overhaul of the ol' girls!   A lop and lift is in order! 

Now that you know more about my boobs than you possibly ever wanted to, I am going to say goodnight.  Well, actually it's almost 11:30 and I have to run to the supermarket for milk and cat food.    

BUT not before I tell you that I finally have everything together that I want to and will be posting not only about the $150 VISA gift card giveaway, tomorrow (just in time for the holidays!), but something I'm tying in with the giveaway called "31 Days of Giving."      I'm super excited about all of this! 

By the way, how was your Thanksgiving?  Ours was fabulous!  We celebrated with Kim and her family it genuinely was one of the best Thanksgiving meals I've ever had.  A little too much wine was involved, along with a new game called "In a Pickle", however we all had a blast.   So very grateful for close friends who have become part of our family!
